Too Art for TV 6 – October 2012

Animation is collaborative by necessity — an animated production needs many skilled hands to come to life, and in the process, the countless creative contributions that are made by individuals become immersed in the whole. Teams of people who specialize in style adaptation, drawing, painting, movement, timing, and visual storytelling work together to bring about one coherent television episode or feature film. The process is time consuming, and due to production budget shrinkages and workload increases, artists in animation find themselves devoting every scrap of their creative energy to their jobs. As an annual event, Too Art for TV serves as a reminder that there is a space for the idiosyncratic musings of the animation industry artist.

Animation as an art form continues to evolve and capture the imagination. The artists who are drawn to this field love pop culture, comic books, cinema and technology. They are illustrators, cinematographers, directors, and painters. When these skills and influences are funneled through a more experimental and expressive fine art body, the resulting visuals are at once whimsical and elaborate, as well as peculiar, juvenile, sweet and seductive.

BunnyCutlet is proud to host the sixth annual showing of Too Art for TV, an exhibition featuring exceptional new works from 42 animation industry artists. The exhibit is designed to promote and encourage the fine arts in the animation industry. After it’s first opening in 2006, Too Art for TV has become an important and reliable outlet for New York animation artists.

Pulp’s “Like A Friend” Dedicated to Venture Bros. Creators

Pulp is an English alternative rock band that formed in Sheffield in 1978. The band consists of Jarvis Cocker (vocals, guitar), Candida Doyle (keyboards, backing vocals), Russell Senior (guitar, violin), Mark Webber (guitar), Steve Mackey (bass), and Nick Banks (drums).

In 1998, Pulp collaborated with Patrick Doyle on the song “Like A Friend” for the soundtrack to the movie Great Expectations. The song was later featured in the season finale of the Venture Brothers, Operation: PROM.

As part of their 2012 tour, Pulp played Radio City Music Hall with frontman, Jarvis Cocker dedicating “Like A Friend” to Venture Bros. creators, Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer. Check out the video from the show below.

1.5 inch wide yellow nylon webbing and belts come between 42″ and 46″ in length (trim off excess but leave enough for tucking behind the ammo pouch.

HENCHMAN COSPLAY BUCKLE
The butterfly emblem is solid resin painted and attached to D rings, so with this belt and buckle set it actually works like a real belt.

HENCHMAN COSPLAY POUCH

Tell us a bit about this design.
Well, it’s the story…of a man named Venture, who was bringing up two clones of his own. We actually just finished re-watching Season 3, and the character development is pretty great for a cartoon. As you see behind the curtain of the villain-hero relationship, you realize that the Venture clique and the Monarch camp are really one big, violently dysfunctional family. It’s sort of what we all secretly wish The Brady Bunch would have turned into at some point.

Where are you from?
We are from Ventura, California and San Diego, California respectively, but to most of the world they’re the same place.

What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
We are a geeky couple who bonded over our love of Lord of the Rings and graffiti art, hence the name. She comes up with our best concepts, and I dutifully consider myself The Hand of The Queen.

What is your favorite thing about Team Venture?
The obvious answer is Brock Samson in full berzerker mode, but deep down it is the indomitable spirit of Hank and Dean and their Kenny-like ability to respawn.
