Classic Sidecar Cocktail Recipe

The Sidecar is a classic cocktail traditionally made with Cognac, orange liqueur (Cointreau, Grand Marnier or another triple sec), and lemon juice. In its ingredients, the drink is perhaps most closely related to the older Brandy Daisy, which differs both in presentation and in proportions of its components.

In Season 3 of the Venture Bros., “Now Museum Now You Don’t,” Dr. Venture orders a double Sidecar at the opening reception of the Museum of Jonas Venture Sr. on Spider-Skull Island. Below is a classic Sidecar recipe you can do at home.

CLASSIC SIDECAR RECIPE

  • Add 1 shot of cognac, 1 shot of cointreau, 1 shot of lemon juice and a dash of sugar to a Boston glass.
  • Fill the Boston glass with ice cubes and shake vigorously for 10-12 seconds
  • Carefully open shaker and place a Hawthorn strainer over the top
  • Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, garnish with fresh orange zest, and serve

With 25ml measures, each Sidecar contains approximately 2 units of alcohol
