Suffering Bastard Cocktail Recipe

The Suffering Bastard is a Cocktail which consists of Brandy, Gin, Sweetened Lime Juice, Bitters, and Ginger Ale. The Suffering Bastard was created by Joe Scialom at the Shepherd’s Hotel in Cairo, Egypt. The original name for this drink was apparently the Suffering Bar Steward, but as one might expect in a noisy bar after a few drinks, the name gets a little mangled.

This drink was referenced in a flashback scene in The Venture Bros. “The Invisible Hand of Fate”. Below is Jeff Berry’s recipe for Suffering Bastard you can do at home.

SUFFERING BASTARD RECIPE

• Build in a glass (tiki or highball)
• 1 oz fresh lime juice
• 3/4 Bourbon
• 1 oz Gin
• dash Angostura Bitters
• add ice and stir
• garnish with cherry, orange wedge, sprig mint
