My personal Venture Bros. Blog. A mash up on all thing Venture.
Jackson Publick posted a new blog entry on Publick Nuisance today. Entitled “Tonight’s the Night,” he modestly encourages people to watch the season premiere of the Venture Bros. on Adult Swim. With the post, he gives us new information on a special guest voice this season, actor Nathan Fillion. Nathan Fillion is popularly known for his lead role on Joss Whedon’s TV series, Firefly as Captain Malcolm Reynolds. After a Firefly mention in Pinstripes vs. Poltergeists and popular trends by fans on Twitter, Nathan Fillion is set to guest voice later this season.
Tonight was the moment that Venture fandom had been anticipating with bated breath for months on end. Tortured by the split format of season four and the achingly wide chasm between the two halves, I found I was unable to disassociate my excited expectations when attempting to view the episode with the unbiased and critical eye of a cut-throat assessor. I bounced in my chair, squealing like a school-girl in the throes of spring’s first amorous breezes as soon as the episode began. If I may extend this metaphor, the opening of The Diving Bell vs. The Butter-Glider was passionately strong, dropping us directly into an ongoing crises wrought with tense excitement and explosions—it then abruptly careens us off a cliff and dissolves into slightly disappointing inaction, leaving me desperately wanting for more… just like a teenage crush.
Jackson Publick updated his blog at Publick Nuisance today. Entitled Nocturnal Emissions, he gives us a production update on the upcoming episodes of the Venture Bros. season 4. Jackson writes that five of the episodes have been completed, while the last three episodes are nearing the final stages of production. “We think you’re really going to like these next eight episodes” says Publick. “We liked the last eight a whole lot, and we think these are better. I can safely say these new ones have more of the things you thought were missing from the last ones, less of the things you thought there was too much of, and quite a few new and unexpected twists.”
The second half of Venture Bros. Season 4 starts in less then a month. What little nuggets of truth and hilarity can we learn from the trailer? With images flying by at a rapid pace and not knowing the clips in their context, it can be hard to sort it out. After watching the Venture Bros. Season 4.5 trailer more times then should be allowed by law, this is what I think is going on.
VentureBrosBlog.com is looking for fans interested in doing a regular podcast on the Venture Brothers. With the new season fast approaching, we look to do a retrospective of the past 4 seasons and discuss future episodes. Once the show premieres on September 12th, we plan to record a weekly recap of show with fans till the season finale. Our goal with this podcast is to feature real fans and record their thoughts on the series as a fan discussion.
